Mac Laptops: Excessive Fan Noise
Posted by Matthew Yetter on 20 February 2015 11:58 AM

There is a known issue where a Mac laptop's fans will spin up to maximum speed while running ZBrush.

A solution for this is being sought but no ETA is available at this time.

The simplest workaround is to turn off Preferences >> Performance >> MultiDraw and store the configuration by pressing Cmd+Shift+I.

This only affects ZBrush's rendering speed without affecting your interaction with the mesh while sculpting.  The only performance will be affected with this setting off is while performing an actual render, either via Best Render or a BPR.  Due to the speed of BPR, you will see little effect even there but if you are going to do a major render using the Best Render option it would be recommended to temporarily turn MultiDraw back on before starting the render.  Turn it off again after you have exported the finished image.
