Activating the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge
Posted by Matthew Yetter on 12 November 2015 05:18 PM

The ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge uses a new activation system which is different from that of ZBrush.

When you purchase a license for the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge you receive an email that contains your serial number and instructions for how to download your license file. Click the link in that email to be taken to a page that will ask for a little information and then provide you with your download.  You may save your .zlic file to any location on your computer.  Please choose something that you will be able to easily find later.  We recommend that you also make a backup copy of it so that you don't need to download it again every time you install ZBrush.

Once you have your .zlic file:

  1. Launch ZBrush and load a model.
  2. Turn on Render >> External Renderer >> KeyShot.
  3. Do a BPR.
  4. A window will open with an option to INSTALL your license.  Click that button.
  5. Browse to where you put your .zlic file and select it to load it.
  6. If your computer has an internet connection, the Bridge will activate automatically.

That's it!

If your computer does not have an internet connection or if something is blocking that access, the steps above will instead take you to an option for Offline Activation.  Click that and follow the on-screen instructions.  This will guide you through creating a Request File, which you'll then take to any computer that does have internet access.  Go to and load your .zreq file.  The web page will take you through the steps to convert that file to a .zact file, which you'll take back to your ZBrush machine.  Now follow steps 1-3 above and then continue your offline activation to load the .zact file and complete the activation process.  There is no need to save the .zreq or .zact file after this has been completed.  Please do save your .zlic file, however!
