ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge: Corrupt License File
Posted by Matthew Yetter, Last modified by Matthew Yetter on 07 July 2017 08:32 AM

Under certain circumstances, your license for the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge can become corrupted.  This will normally happen if you reinstall ZBrush on a computer, or if you update that machine's operating system (such as going from Windows 8 to Windows 10).

If you try to use the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge and are given a message that the license is corrupt, please close ZBrush.  Then follow these steps:

  1. With ZBrush closed, go to the ZBrush 4R8 folder.
  2. Run the Pixologic Deactivation Manager, which you will find there.
  3. At the lower left corner of the Deactivation Manager window, click the button to Reset.
  4. Confirm when warned that you should only do this at the instruction of Support.  This article counts as that instruction.
  5. Close the Deactivation Manager.
  6. You will now need your .zlic file again.  If you did not save a backup of it, please go to http://pixologic.com/my-licenses to download it.
  7. Launch ZBrush.
  8. Turn on Render >> External Renderer >> KeyShot.
  9. Load a model and do a BPR.
  10. You will now be prompted to reactivate the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge.  Click the button to Install your license and proceed from there like normal.
