KeyShot 7 Upgrades
Posted by Matthew Yetter on 22 November 2016 08:49 AM

We have just received word from Luxion that all KeyShot purchases from Friday, November 25th forward will receive KeyShot 7 as a free upgrade when it is released.

This includes purchases of KeyShot 6 HD for ZBrush and KeyShot 6 Pro for ZBrush.

This also includes anyone who upgrades from KeyShot 5 for ZBrush on or after the 25th.  So if you haven't taken advantage of the upgrade yet, you'll want to do so starting Black Friday.  Upgrades to KeyShot 6 HD for ZBrush are $80 and upgrading to the Pro version costs $200.  We have even been told by Luxion that people who upgrade from the HD version to the Pro version during the promotion period will get 7 as a free upgrade.

You can make the upgrade through our My Licenses portal.  You can also purchase KeyShot (and the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge) through our Online Store.

We do not have a release date for KeyShot 7.  The promotion will run from this Friday until the launch of KeyShot 7.

Happy Holidays from Luxion and Pixologic!

ZBrushCore Has Been Released
Posted by Matthew Yetter on 30 September 2016 08:50 PM

ZBrushCore is a digital sculpting and painting application, suitable for users of all skill levels including those who have never ventured into the digital realm before.  It is a streamlined version of ZBrush, designed for all artists and enthusiasts of both traditional and digital art.  At its heart, ZBrushCore functions the same as ZBrush.  (Click for Feature Comparison)

ZBrushCore is designed for users who are new to 3D as well as illustrators, students and 3D printing enthusiasts.  Every skill and technique learned and applied in ZBrushCore will carry over seamlessly to ZBrush should you ever wish to upgrade.  It will include localization in English, Japanese, German, Spanish, French and Chinese.

If you already have a ZBrush license, you do not need ZBrushCore!  You already have all the professional-level application, including all features found in ZBrushCore and much, much more.

ZBrushCore is compatible with the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge, and through it can connect to any version of KeyShot including the KeyShot for ZBrush versions.  The same as for ZBrush users, these add-ons are sold separately.

The retail price is $149.95.  Wacom also has a bundle available that includes the Intuos 3D tablet.  The bundle price is $199 USD.

It will be possible to upgrade from ZBrushCore to ZBrush.  $100 of your ZBrushCore purchase will be applied to the price of ZBrush.  This upgrade can be done through the My Licenses page.  (This option will be enabled with the release of ZBrush 4R8.  Until then, ZBrush cannot open native-format files created by ZBrushCore.)

We also have a multi-lingual Knowledgebase for ZBrushCore. This is a great resource for help with the most common questions and issues.

Serial Numbers and Downloads
Posted by Matthew Yetter on 20 June 2016 02:02 PM

Did you know that Pixologic has a web page that allows you to retrieve your serial number at any time?  Introducing:

My Licenses

This is a very powerful web page with a variety of features:

  • View all serial numbers (license keys) associated with your email address.
  • View the activations currently shown for each ZBrush or ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge serial number.
  • Request a license repair to remove activations that are no longer accessible due to things like hardware failure or reinstalling the operating system.
  • For KeyShot for ZBrush, view any free upgrade that you might be eligible for as well as purchase an upgrade, if available.

We recommend bookmarking this page so that you have ready access to it in the future.  The majority of support tickets that we receive are related to recovering a forgotten or lost serial number.

The other area that results in a great many support tickets is related to downloading ZBrush again.

So where to download from?  That depends on whether you first purchased ZBrush 4R7 or you upgraded to it.

  • If you purchased ZBrush 4R7 then your download link is in the delivery email that was sent to you when you purchased ZBrush.  That email also has your serial number.  If you have lost that email you will need to create a Support ticket to have the delivery email resent to you.
  • If you upgraded to ZBrush 4R7 from an earlier version of ZBrush 4.x then your download link is on the upgrade page.
  • If you upgraded to ZBrush 4R7 from ZBrush 3.5 or older then your download link is the same as for those who first purchased ZBrush 4R7 and you'll find the download link in your delivery email that you received when you upgrade to ZBrush 4R7.

For all three of these options, download links always expire after two downloads or seven days, whichever comes first.  For this reason, we encourage you to make a backup copy of your installer after you have downloaded it.  We can renew a download link for you at any time (for another seven days or two downloads) but that isn't very helpful to you if it's late on Friday and you're wanting to use ZBrush again over the weekend.  Having a backup copy of the installer will save you trouble down the road.  The easiest way to make such a backup is to buy a small USB thumb drive. (1 GB is more than enough and typically costs less than $10.) Simply copy the installer to it after you have downloaded from our website.

We hope that this information will be helpful to you.  Happy ZBrushing!
