ZBrush 4R8 is Now Available!
(Serialized licenses only. Floating licenses will follow. See the FAQ below.)
Please carefully follow these instructions to find the correct path for you:
Upgrading is FREE for anyone who has ever purchased a ZBrush license, no matter how long ago.
ZBrushCore users may upgrade to ZBrush 4R8 and receive a USD $100 discount off the purchase price. (Your cost will be USD $695.) You will keep your existing ZBrushCore license, allowing you to work with whichever program you wish at any time. This also makes it easy to get all of your ZBrushCore creations moved over to ZBrush 4R8.
ZBrush 4R8 is also now available for new purchases through our online store. Buy Now
Q: Where do I get my serial number?
A: Your serial number was emailed to you when you purchased or upgraded to ZBrush 4.x. It is unchanged for version 4R8. If you no longer have a record of it, please use My Licenses. You may need to register on that page (using the same email address that your license is registered under) before you can log in.
Q: What do I do if my email address has changed?
A: You can upgrade simply by filling in the old email address where requested. Nothing will actually be sent to your email address -- it's all displayed on the web pages. However, you should at your earliest convenience submit a Support ticket to have your registered email address updated.
Q: Do I need to deactivate my current version?
A: It is technically not necessary to do so, but strongly recommended just the same! Please deactivate the old version before activating 4R8.
Q: Can I use the Auto Updater?
A: If you have ZBrush 4R7, yes. For all other versions of ZBrush, no. Even if you do have version 4R7 it is recommended to use the Full Installer if at all possible. There are many issues that can be caused by using the Auto Updater for an upgrade of this size.
Q: Is there a 32-bit version?
A: Support for 32-bit operating systems has been discontinued. The last version that had 32-bit support was 4R7. If you still have a 32-bit OS you should stay with that version until you upgrade your computer. At that time, you will be able to upgrade to ZBrush 4R8.
Q: Which operating system versions are required for ZBrush 4R8?
A: For Windows, it is unchanged and requires Windows Vista or newer. For Mac OS X we now require OS X 10.8 or higher.
Q: Do I need to upgrade KeyShot or the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge?
A: No upgrades are required at this time.
Q: Where do I get the floating license installer?
A: We estimate that the installer for floating license clients (those that use a server instead of serial number) will be made available approximately 10 business days after the launch of 4R8. If any patches are necessary we want to get them included before releasing the floating license version in order to minimize deployment issues for our large volume customers. This also ensures that you'll have the most stable version for your production work.
Q: ZBrush 4R8 Mac Version Live Boolean “Generate Mesh” Does Not Work
A: The Live Boolean > Make Boolean Mesh process is currently unavailable for users of OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks). While the Live Boolean Preview works as it should, clicking the “Make Boolean Mesh” button won’t actually result in a mesh being created. We are investigating ways to fix this issue, but until such a solution can be implemented the only way to fully use the Live Boolean feature in ZBrush 4R8 would be to upgrade your Mac OSX to the latest version.

ZBrushCore Has Been Released
Posted by Matthew Yetter on 30 September 2016 08:50 PM
ZBrushCore is a digital sculpting and painting application, suitable for users of all skill levels including those who have never ventured into the digital realm before. It is a streamlined version of ZBrush, designed for all artists and enthusiasts of both traditional and digital art. At its heart, ZBrushCore functions the same as ZBrush. (Click for Feature Comparison)
ZBrushCore is designed for users who are new to 3D as well as illustrators, students and 3D printing enthusiasts. Every skill and technique learned and applied in ZBrushCore will carry over seamlessly to ZBrush should you ever wish to upgrade. It will include localization in English, Japanese, German, Spanish, French and Chinese.
If you already have a ZBrush license, you do not need ZBrushCore! You already have all the professional-level application, including all features found in ZBrushCore and much, much more.
ZBrushCore is compatible with the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge, and through it can connect to any version of KeyShot including the KeyShot for ZBrush versions. The same as for ZBrush users, these add-ons are sold separately.
The retail price is $149.95. Wacom also has a bundle available that includes the Intuos 3D tablet. The bundle price is $199 USD.
It will be possible to upgrade from ZBrushCore to ZBrush. $100 of your ZBrushCore purchase will be applied to the price of ZBrush. This upgrade can be done through the My Licenses page. (This option will be enabled with the release of ZBrush 4R8. Until then, ZBrush cannot open native-format files created by ZBrushCore.)
We also have a multi-lingual Knowledgebase for ZBrushCore. This is a great resource for help with the most common questions and issues.
